Our Work
Empowering cancer survivors through support.

Counselling
A cancer diagnosis brings immense emotional and psychological challenges for patients as well as their families. At Sangini Cancer Care Society, we believe that true healing involves both body and mind. Our team of trained volunteers — whom we proudly call Vijetas (winners) — are cancer survivors themselves. When Vijetas counsel patients, it gives them a ray of hope to fight the disease and become Vijetas too.
Through these sessions, we encourage patients to complete their treatment with confidence, explain medical procedures and side effects in simple, reassuring terms, and share essential do’s and don’ts to follow during therapy. We help them manage stress, fear, and sadness, while motivating them to adopt a healthy lifestyle through regular exercise, balanced nutrition, and meditation. Because our volunteers have walked the same path, patients are able to connect with them deeply and find renewed hope. Our goal is to ensure that every patient feels supported, understood, and inspired to face cancer with courage and optimism.

Awareness
At Sangini Cancer Care Society, we believe awareness is the key to prevention and early detection of breast cancer. Through regular awareness sessions, workshops, and community outreach programs, we educate women on the importance of self-breast examination, recognizing early signs, and seeking timely medical advice. Our initiatives reach schools, colleges, corporate offices, and residential communities to ensure that accurate information about breast health is accessible to all.
Our dedicated volunteers and healthcare experts work together to break myths, remove fear, and encourage open conversations about cancer. By sharing real survivor stories and practical guidance, we aim to inspire confidence and empower every woman to take charge of her health — because early detection can make all the difference.

Lymphedema Management
We focus on empowering breast cancer survivors to manage lymphedema effectively and improve their quality of life. Lymphedema, a common post-surgical condition, can cause swelling and discomfort in the arm, but with the right care and awareness, it can be controlled. Our Lymphedema Instructor, Mrs. Rupika Sanyal conducts regular sessions demonstrating manual lymphatic drainage massage, bandaging, and simple exercises that help reduce swelling and maintain lymph flow. We also educate patients about skin care, posture, and preventive measures to minimize complications. Through continuous guidance and emotional support, Sangini helps survivors manage lymphedema with confidence and live active, fulfilling lives.

Financial Assistance
The cost of cancer treatment can be a heavy burden for many families. To ease this challenge, Sangini Cancer Care Society provides financial assistance to patients from economically weaker backgrounds, ensuring that no one is deprived of treatment due to lack of resources.
With the generous support of our members, donors, and well-wishers, we help patients obtain essential medicines and treatment procedures. Our aim is to bring hope and relief to those in need, allowing them to focus on recovery rather than financial hardship. Every life deserves a fair chance at healing — and Sangini is committed to making that possible.
Other Activities

Creating Impact Through Nukkad Natak
We spread breast cancer awareness through engaging Nukkad Nataks (street plays) performed by our passionate volunteers, using art and drama to educate communities, break myths, and encourage early detection in an impactful and relatable way.
Lymphedema Workshops
We conduct Lymphedema Management Workshops, where survivors are taught massage techniques, exercises, and bandaging methods to reduce swelling and improve mobility.

Running for Awareness
Our Vijetas and volunteers join marathons with enthusiasm and pride — running to spread the message of early detection, courage, and hope for a cancer-free tomorrow.
Support with Wig and Breast Prosthesis
Through our wig and breast prosthesis support program, we aim to restore confidence and self-esteem among survivors, reminding them that healing is not just physical but emotional too.
Palliative Counseling
Support Group Activities
Sangini’s support group activities create a safe, positive space for emotional sharing and guidance, where survivors inspire patients to face challenges with courage and optimism.
Sangini offers palliative counseling to patients and families facing advanced stages of cancer, providing emotional comfort, guidance, and compassionate support to improve quality of life.
Empowering Volunteers Through Training
Our volunteers undergo special training sessions to learn how to counsel patients, spread awareness, and provide emotional and practical support with compassion and understanding.
Celebrating Life and Togetherness
Our annual celebration, Sangini Ki Umang, brings together survivors, families, and well-wishers in a joyful gathering filled with music, dance, and stories of courage — celebrating life beyond cancer.
